ワコムタブレットをLinuxとGIMPで快適に使う方法。

タブレットの設定でこの投稿方法は用いないで下さい。もう古いんです。
何かしらの参考になることを願って、公開はしておきます（苦労したし）。

Linuxでタブレットを動かそうとした頃、「ここを見れば大丈夫」というサイトが無く、結局色々なサイトの情報を自分なりに総合、整理してようやく動いたという感じでした（色々勉強にもなりましたが）。

今回紹介するのは普通のUSBタブレットの使いかたです。液晶タブレットはほんの少しだけ違います。

それではスタート！

ディストリビューション付属のwacom関連パッケージを全部入れる（といっても2パッケージぐらい）。

タブレットを接続。

一応再起動。

/dev/input/wacom　があることを確認して下さい。

"2006年11月30日時点で、バグのためかFedora Core 6 (FC6)上で”wacom”が表示されませんでした。(FC5はOK)。当時"The Linux Wacom Project"に回避方法が記載されていたんですが、無くなっているようです。Fedoraがバグを修復したのかどうかは分かりません。


/etc/X11/xorg.conf　を編集します。管理者権限を持たなければ編集することは出来ません。Ubuntuでは端末に

sudo nautilus

でエンターキー押してパスワードを打ってエンターキー押せば権限を持った"Nautilus"が起動するので、そのまま"xorg.conf"のところまで行って"xorg.conf"をダブルクリックすれば、テキストエディタで編集、保存ができます。
ちなみに手軽に管理者権限を得られる方法として、nautilus-gksuなんてのもあります（Ubuntuだけ？）。右クリックメニューから手軽に権限を持つことが出来ます。


"xorg.conf"の中を見てみると、

この3つのセクションを付け足します。上記のようなwacomのセクションが既に存在する場合は（Ubuntuがそうでした）、記述がいい加減なので上書きしちゃってください。くれぐれも他を消去しないように。さらに、

の３つを足して下さい。新しいディストリビューションをお使いの方は"ServerLayout"が無いと思います。そういう場合は、

xorg.conf　を保存して再起動。

するとどうでしょう。マウスは相対座標。ペンは絶対座標で動くと思います（ホイールが動きません。誰か何とかして下さい）。

時間がありましたらぜひ、本家本元 "The Linux Wacom Project" のドキュメントを翻訳サイトを使ってでも読んで見てください。熟読すれば"xorg.conf"の中身をちょっと変えるだけでも色々出来るようになったりします（液晶タブレットなんかも）。面倒くさい方は、

だけでも読んでみて下さい。

お薦めは"Infoseekマルチ翻訳"によるWebページ翻訳の、"原文と訳文を表示"。翻訳エンジンは"Yhaoo!翻訳"と同様なんですが、速いです。


GIMPでタブレットを使う

"環境設定"→"入力デバイス"→"追加された入力デバイスの設定..."

デバイス "stylus" "cursor" "eraser" 全てのモードを"画面"にして、それぞれ数字を被らないように割り当て"保存"。

ツールオプションメニューの"ブラシ感度の調整"の好きなところにチェックすることで、一件落着。
